If you already hold a Queensland issued disability worker screening clearance (NDIS or state-based), you can access a range of services to manage your existing clearance, including letting us know of any changes in your circumstances or details, requesting a replacement card, or making a renewal application.
Already hold a NDIS worker screening clearance issued in another state or territory?
An NDIS worker screening clearance will not be issued in Queensland if you already hold a clearance issued by another state or territory in Australia.
The NDIS worker screening check is nationally recognised, and you can take your clearance with you anywhere in Australia to carry out NDIS work. Your employer/organisation must link to you through the NDIS Worker Screening Database to confirm your clearance status.
If your NDIS worker screening clearance was issued in another state or territory and expires in less than three months (90 days), you can renew it in Queensland, provided you are working or employed to work in Queensland in the future.
For more information, refer to our Workers with Interstate NDIS Screening Outcomes fact sheet (PDF, 173 KB) (DOCX, 81 KB).
Worker Portal
If you are registered in the Disability Worker Screening Portal, you can access the following services online:
- Commence, save and lodge a Disability Worker Screening application (including a combined disability worker screening application and blue card application) or renewal
- Update your personal details including your name, address and contact details
- View the status of your application
- Notify of a change in engagement (starting or ending work for an employer/organisation)
- Request to change from volunteer to paid employment
- Request a replacement card
- Request withdrawal of an application that has not yet been decided
Note: The online application works best using current browsers such as Chrome, Firefox, Safari or Edge. There may be compatibility issues with older browsers, such as Internet Explorer 11 or earlier.
Submitting a renewal application
Is your clearance due for renewal?
If your NDIS Worker Screening or Queensland Disability Worker Screening clearance expires within three months (90 days), you will be eligible to submit a renewal application before your current clearance expires. Renewal applications received earlier than this will not be accepted. Only renew your clearance if you are still providing disability supports and services.
Ensuring you submit a valid renewal
To ensure you can continue working while your renewal application is being processed, you must submit a valid renewal application. A valid renewal application must consist of the following:
- Your application is submitted prior to the expiry of your previous clearance
- Your payment has been successfully made
- Your application has been successfully verified by your nominated employer/organisation
For more information, refer to our Renewal Information fact sheets:

Before you start your renewal
Before you apply to renew your disability worker screening clearance, you should:
- Check your eligibility, including that you have an employer/organisation that can verify your employment
- Check your personal details (name, date of birth, TMR Customer Reference Number, and email address) are up to date on the Worker Portal and match your Queensland Transport and Main Roads record
- Know your payment options
For more information, refer to our Preparing for Renewal fact sheet (PDF, 186 KB) (DOCX, 3 MB).
The quickest and easiest way to renew your clearance is to log into the Worker Portal and complete the application online. Workers who don’t have online access can apply to renew their clearance using a manual application form.
Note: manual application forms take longer to process. If submitting a manual renewal application form, we recommend submitting well before your clearance’s expiry to allow time for processing. If your clearance expires before the form is processed and your employer validates your application, you may need to stop work until your new clearance is issued.
Requesting to change from volunteer to paid employment
Has your employment status changed from volunteer (unpaid) to paid employment?
The quickest and easiest way to request to change from volunteer to paid employment is to log into the Worker Portal and complete the application online. When applying online, the fee amount will be calculated automatically based on the time you have left on your current volunteer card.
Workers who don’t have online access can apply to renew their clearance using a manual application form.
For more information, please refer to our volunteer to paid employment applications fact sheet (PDF, 223 KB) (DOCX, 135 KB).
